Unicycles were acquired here and there. No two are alike
to begin with, but after they were powder coated the same
beautiful shade of tomato, they looked like a matching set.
Unicycles had numbers before they had names. After they
arrived at Unicycle Shop, they were dismantled and painted.
During this process, they were occasionally referred to as
a name other than a number, but for the most part, they were
known by numbers taped onto the parts. When the frames arrived
back from the powder coaters, all the numbers were lost,
so Zac had the job of figuring out what part went to what
frame. Whether or not original unicycles maintained their
integrity is a mystery.
"Little Red" was the first to be named. Zac started calling
that small beast by a nickname almost the minute he crossed
her path. Little Red was red to begin with, anyhow. The rest
of the names just happened and now the unicycles have acquired
personalities a propos to their moniker.
