I
ordered a bunch of zines in the mail and in the stack was one
about the residents and goings-on within an apartment building
in Chicago. I thought it was pretty brilliant to limit a publication
to such a small area for content. My husband thought we could
make a publication about an even smaller place, our house. Lots
goes on in our house, even though it's just the two of us. In
American Stuccolow, we have sections on the bills we
pay, when the alarm goes off accidentally, what pools are nearby,
what our contractor has for lunch, and more. The most popular
section of the publication is "Fight Club" which chronicles
some of our fights. People love to read about marital dischord.
The
title, "American Stuccolow" refers directly
to the publication "American Bungalow," but
the similarities end there. American Stuccolow is the first collaborative
publication between Louis Marchesano and I. We are looking forward
to putting out a second issue, but missed the deadline for the
Christmas issue. The first one came out in June, 2005.
