The words knitted into this tastefully colored grey and white knitted banner are some of the lyrics to the Destiny's Child song, "Independent Woman." The piece was meant to function primarily as an architectural element, affixed to the very tops of walls, much like crown moulding. The lyrics beseech listeners to "throw your hands up in the air," and I thought the image of people looking up at the banner while throwing their hands up was an enchanting proposition. The shoes and bruise are not part of the piece, nor is the small cut above the right ankle strap.
